Fascinating process! The last photo from Dec 4 shows a stock with what appear to be red rubber bands. What is the purpose of that?

Runar, as previously posted, Fascinating! Your last photo shows the bayonet attachment. My question is how strong is the actual bayonet attachment to the barrel? The barrel attachment looks plenty strong, but i wonder about the actual hand guard attachment strikes me as less than ideal. The bayonet shown earlier looks like a hunting sword. Is the leverage a problem?

Hi all! and thank you Daryl and Not English!  Yes the bayonet attachment is wery strong, the old guys was very good on Brazing! And yes the bajonett is made from M/1788-1793 sword(Hirsjfenger bajonett) and the blade is ca 24" long  ;) So its the sliding wood pathbox.

Runar, I notice there is a notch or groove in the front of the ramrod. What is it's purpose?

Thanks,Dave

I would guess that is to secure a patch for cleaning.

I would think so, through the notch and down over the knob. However, that would tend to push fouling down the bore to the breach, but not pull it back out
without a corresponding sharp ring around the end of the rod's tip to hold the patch.

Hi Guys and thank you! Think Daryl is nearest. In the patch box there was a bullet mould and it was a combination tool. the hole was used if drawing a stuck bullet etc.

Runar,
Thank you for the detailed photos and explanation. Your work is not only beautiful, it is also educational and inspiring. My skills and experience are very modest. Seeing your work helps me learn and hopefully improve.
