Horn With Two Bands

 It is about 13 1/2" around the outside curve and 11 tip-to-tip. The Walnut butt is hollowed out about 3/4s its length, I used a 1 3/4s Forstner bit on it so it add quite a bit of space. It is tapped 1-6 for the Hickory finial and held in place by the same four iron pins that hold the band. The tip is horn and is threaded 1/2-13, the antler collar is held on by the tip. The band is held by three iron pins.

If a banded horn can have “all the bells and whistles” this one does.  Great architecture and balance in a compact package.  A real beauty.  God bless, Marc

That is a bold horn, particularly given it's small size.   It definitely makes a statement, and I appreciate how difficult it must have been to fit a base band that wide and thick.

Is that considered a beehive butt?  That style is my favorite.  Beautiful horn.

  Here is a Pic of the tools. They are available in 1/2, 3/4 and 1". In the second Pic you can see how I reduced the thickness of the guide plate so I can thread farther down. The guide can be taken off once the threads are run down to it and a few more can be cut.

 Mike, I would say yes but modified. You won't see many true "Bee Hive" butts with what I would call a Wasp waist or a screw in finial.
