I'm hungry for a new build and I'm feeling a bit Beckish

Parts are on order and hopefully on the way soon.

I have RCA II and can find a few color photos on line by von Aschwege and Martin as well as posts here

I came across this Beck Rifle with an English style Lock.

Is an English style Lock currently available that can be worked into a roughed-out Siler Inlet on a Pre-Carved Stock?

I have a Chambers Round Faced English Lock L-12, but it is too big.

Rm, what's wrong with a Siler? Jim Cambers makes a very good updated Siler.

I acquired a Chambers Golden Age Lock for the project, but when I saw the photo I posted, I thought I'd like to go that way.

I could Anglicize a Siler, or use Chamber's Gunmaker's Lock, but if an English style lock is already available, why reinvent the wheel?

TOTW says the L&R Queen Anne should work

Has anyone tried this? - fit the L&R Queen Anne Lock in a roughed out Siler mortise??
Any advice or caveats???

FYI, the Ditchburn lock that Stan Hollenbaugh makes is from an original J.P. Beck rifle.

I now have to re-think this; I only focused on the photos - the last lines in the description read:

the lock is a re-conversion that is old, expertly done and almost imperceptible. It has a slight curve to its bottom, not quite banana shaped but early none-the-less.

If a reconversion to flint from percussion I do not see how that nullifies it being English. If a replacement that’s another story.

Rm, If you print the TOW locks in pdf, they should come out full size just as in the old paper catalogs. Print one up and hold it over the precarved inlet to see what fits best.

Just because the plate fits the mortise does not mean the sear is in the same place. Measure carefully.

Rm, it's probably wise to use the pdf catalog for a source. I have the second to the last paper catalog and have kept it just for that purpose even though it's not up to date.

I are disappoint.

Nobody commented on my "Hungry / feeling Beckish" attempt at punny humor.

I think I'll obtain an L&R QA lock - if I don't use it for this project, I'll find some other project for it down the road.
I'm looking forward to attempting my hand at Smart Dog's Ovolo Border technique on it.

I took my Lancaster that was like that to L&R, and now that lock is in my build.

RMN, I believe I am going to start manufacturing and selling "round tu its", which may be what you are looking for under your bench, I am sure that housewives across the continent will be buying them for their hubbies.
