A Little Different Buffalo Horn
« on: October 16, 2020, 05:47:19 PM »
It is about 13" around the outside curve and 10 tip-to-tip. The segmented butt is made up of Maple and Walnut, it is about 3 1/4" and is hollowed out about 3/4s its length and held in by 4 Iron pins, the band is held by 3 more. The Walnut finial is threaded 1-6. The antler tip is one piece and held by 3 pins. The Band, that is intended for the strap is horn and also held by 3 pins.
Buffalo horns have strange profiles, with the wide butts and little curve and twist. This one was scraped and sanded followed by a coat of Brown shoe polish.
