Ed, I was having the same problem as Danny, the pics seem a tad too dark and/or something about contrast.  It's hard to see any detail so check to see if this a little better.
I'm impressed that you 'burned' yourself a pour spout.  I'll bet you did that outside or the missus would have had a fit for sure.  ;D   From what I can see I'm not sure if the base plug has been pegged.  I note you mention the base area is 3inches, is that oval or round?
I like the architecture of the horn layout and the fact that it's a 'double curve".  That is the proportion of the body between the throat area.  It's also evident you've paid some attention to a few originals or two as it appears you were shooting for a 'typicial folk art' style horn?  You will find that a whole host of symbols, animals, people, etc would have been celebrated by original users/makers in the old days.  All in all, a good start, and as a master or two I know,,,,they keep repeating the same.  Keep practicing, keep practicing, blah, blah, blah.   :)
Oh, and don't forget to have fun.  Enjoy because sometimes the journey taken gives us the most joy, not always from finding what we were seeking.

That is a pretty nice horn!  Lose the violin peg and make a real plug!

Thanks for whatever you did that brightened it up some . I can tell you when I burnt that spout thru my neighbors didn`t like it but they think I am strange anyways so who cares I have studied some original horns and well I let this horn do the talking like I said no pwer tools of any kind it is pegged with maple pegs that I carved every thing on thiis horn has meaning to me and I wanted to stay with the folkart look I really like the look of the old horns I think the hardest part was using the sand stones to smooth it out and I  did alot of the shaping with them I did use some files and glass as my scrapers the base is oval it has a maple plug fitted flat in it since the picture has been taken I have made a staple for the back and I am using a piece of linen and trade cloth tha was sewin together by my Grandfather years ago that he had his trade silver on that was passed down I got the sash but my uncle decided he wanted to trade silver . He was A lokata sioux not my real grandfather butthe only one I knew .but hey thanks for the comments
