Olddoggy,
Looks like you still need to blush that.

I think I kinda screwed up, I blushed with 0000 steel wool and rubbed so hard I coused ripples in the grain.  Any other method I should have taken??

Did you heat the stain with a heat gun? That’s what blushing is. If you haven’t you may want to reapply the stain and then blush it until you get a rusty brown color.

I did heat, went from Green to black then I rub it down with 0000 steel wool.
I think it's looking better

I stained mine just like you did, but rather than rub it back with steel wool, I used a rubber sanding block ground out of an old engine mount, and 320 sandpaper.  That kept the surface true and removed the stain from the lightly stained wood while leaving the black in the curl.  Then reapplied AF and blushed again, repeated the sanding.  Finally, I burnished the wood with 0000steel wool, and oiled with Tung Oil Finish.
I found that the wood stained with FN required sanding to remove anything...steel wool was ineffective.

Here's mine:

The ripples look like part of the wood grain to me?

Regardless, it looks far from bad. I think it’s quite nice.

Your gonna like that lock, heck your gonna like the whole rifle.

I looked at that Kibler lock at the Frolic and it is IMHO the best producrion lock.
I admit I am prejudiced in favor of the linked mainspring and I suppose the Brits
were too and they called that link an "anti friction swivel".

Well it's done, all but the lock.
I was looking for the aged look.
Kibler makes great kits with almost perfect fit, very minimal fitting was required.
I dont think it will be my last.
Thanks for looking.

Nicely finished and nice sharp pictures, too.
I feel the rear sight is mounted backwards, though.

Good day Mr. McBride. I was going to let this matter go. How ever, for some reason today, here we go. Your wall of reality fine rifles is outstanding. I do see s small eye catcher for me. Phillip screw heads, what, used on your foraged rifle hangers. I do have a median size can for forged screws. If I can find them I'll send you some. I used them in my forgoing days. I use to purchase them from Trenton Nail co. Have a great week end. AJ.

Yes, I'm embarrassed to say, I used the sheetrock screws to hang them with the intention of replacing them with some forged/forged type screws, which my lazy nature has left undone to this day. I'm glad you didn't let it go, as it's a ridiculous thing for me to have. It is on my list.....if I can ever get done with my wife's list....
