New Tomahawk by Bart
« on: November 04, 2020, 01:44:29 AM »
Saw a tomahawk a couple months back that Bart Dellinger of Red Banks Forge out of Virginia forged had posted an I really liked the looks of it so I shot him a PM an we worked us up a deal on one. It came in today an I have to say if you are in the market for one Bart is the way to go. The feel an balance is great an the quality an workmanship is first rate. He was great to deal with an sent me pics as he was forging the head an making the handle from a blank. This should be very handy around my fire. Thanks Bart for a great hawk

I could see one being used in Iowa.

Thank you all for the comments. I enjoyed making the hawk for "wattlebuster". Olddoggy2, I used Aqua-Fortis to bring out the curl in the Ash, followed by high lighting with aniline dyes. The topcoat was done with my own brew of oils with hardeners added in to aid in drying.

Beautiful piece!
Nice job!  What are the dimensions and type of steel you used?

Bull Shannon, thank you. I started with 1" 4140 square stock. It forged out to roughly 2.5"ish at the blade, and the overall length of the head is nearly 6".
