Craig thank you for your comments and thank you to all the others that have commented. I look back on my journey as a rifle builder. The places it has taken me and the people I have met along the way. There has been so many that it is hard to mention each and everyone but they all as a whole have shaped the way I build my rifles today.
You mentioned my engraving and how you feel it will take a long time for you to accomplish that level. I started playing around with engraving in about 2004. I took an engraving class from Mark Silver and one from Wallace Gusler at Bowling green which helped a great deal but I really started my path to being able to engrave when in 2007 I went to take a class from GRS in Empora KS. Notice I said I start my path, it is a path that I am still on and hope to continue until the Good Lord take me home.
I look back at some of the craftsmen that I have had the pleasure of attending classes with. Jeff Talbert and I were in a patch box making class that was taught by Gary Brumfield in about 2001 or 2002. Jeff is producing some really fine rifles today. Mitch Yates and I did a class with Hershel in about 2007, Mitch is doing great work. Jim Kibler and I took a couple of classes from Wallace, Jim has managed to almost completely revolutionized the kit building business on top of being a great gun builder. Darin McDonal and I have been to several classes together and we co built the Battle of New Orleans documentary copy for the CLA in 2013, Darrin is now working in the gun shop at Colonial Williamsburg. These are just a few of the talented guys I have enjoyed being associated with in my gun building career.
Enough reminiscing, Craig what I am trying to say is I started my journey and have continued and will continue until I can't or the Good Lord takes me home. You have started your journey, continue it, enjoy it, you will be surprised to see how well and how far you have come and how good the work is you are doing. I have seen the work you have posted and you are doing well my friend, continue on.
