« on: November 28, 2020, 06:31:25 PM »
Hello everybody,

I have made  a Flintlock lock for a Jaeger on scale.
I share some pictures with you.
Now I get starting with making the barrel.

Adrie,The lock is amazing! The smallest lock that I have made is 3 1/4" long. Most are 4 to 6 inches long. It is interesting to me that the lock is usually the first thing I make for a rifle build. Please keep us up to date with this project.Clint W

Outstanding craftsmanship and I know from long experience these tiny locks
are not easy to make.I have made 4 (I think) on the Fenton parts from TRS
and got $250 each for the labor back when that was an unheard of price for
such skilled labor.* Yesterday I turned down $1000 to make 2 locks on the L&R
Manton external parts.I made the last 2 using their Durs Egg  externals and
that was in 2019.
Keep up the fine work,Adrie and it IS appreciated here.

Bob,

Here the scratch I used. For the mainspring I used a car spring.

The reactions from everybody on ALR inspire me to do my very best.
Thanks all!!

Wow...... the cleaning water you used was too hot.  You shrunk it.

Humor aside, that is a wonderful piece of work.

Hello,

In the meantime I have made a swamped barrel for the Jaeger rifle.

It took me 3 days to inlay the barrel in the stock.

I also finished the engraving on the Flintlock. On the picture I see more of my work than with the naked eye,
because my lockplate is in real 6,7 inch long.

I have to buy brass for the budplate and the triggerguard, but all shops are in lockdown in Amsterdam.
I still had a little piece of brass, it was to small but I used it for a tomahawk for the John Armstrong rifle.

I wish everybody Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
Adrie

I can not imagine working at that scale (size), my eyes would be strained.  Springs must be really hard to make, I have a tough time with them full size!

Hello,

Here an update of the Jaeger rifle.
I made it of walnut but it is not a very good piece.
When I look at the wood the splinters are already flying of!
I have grounded the wood with Tru oil, that works a little better.

Now I start making the trigger guard.

Fantastic work Adrie, if I understood from before, you live in Holland? Did not know there where talented builders like you. You build on full scale rifles to?
Best regards,
