I got the last one today from my local Woodcraft store. Great sale price. After unboxing it, I've decided that the Urethane pads on the wood jaws are too hard and potentially slippery. I'll be installing leather pads to soften the grip and provide better traction. Thinking some 3M spray glue should do the trick.

Ridge,
The jaws are lined with Urethane. It's pricy but can be bought in small sheets. Some folks use leather or cork or rubber. If replacing the wood jaw, Baltic birch plywood is good stuff if you happen to have a scrap piece.
