New rifle loosely based on one by an unknown maker who many believe to be of southern origin but has many features like the patchbox that you would find on a York or Lancaster Pa. gun.

Very fine carving. Would you place it around 1780 give or take 10 years?

Ken,
That a neat rifle, some variant of the Poem rifle? Really good job.

Very nice. You can almost “feel” the organic nature of it. Makes you want to rub your hands all over it. Beautiful!
The last gun I felt this way about was an Allen Martin gun named the “Busty Brunette”.
Is this unhealthy?
