When making sights on straight barrels do make them the same height or rear taller, and be how much?

Relative to the center of the bore, I start at equal height.  I then file the front, to sight in.  IT usually ends up that the rear sight is about 0.10" higher.  Pistols often end up about equal, due to barrel flip.

On Hawkens with a 32 inch barrel, the rear sight has to be about .035 higher.

Thanks I'm making rear sight for a 36 long barrel green mnt

I made a peep sight for load work up BUT they will not let me PLAY/shoot with that on at shoots(feeling like rudolph the red nosed reindeer)

so I want to make a co-witness sight I really like Herbs  sights (I'm using brass and ageing it)

On a straight octagonal barrel, start with the sights level.
On a swamped barrel, start with them both level, measured from the centre of the bore.

Recurve, I just called up that post and most of the photos were missing.  I had corrected that post a few months back, adding the "s" to the http.  The s was not there now.  I added it back and all the photos are there again.  Thanks for the confidence.
