Sometimes a guy gets lucky....
« on: December 11, 2020, 03:32:40 AM »
Wis. general firearms deer season 2020

Whitetail doe ..35 yards broadside moving...
58 cal. Early Virginia flintlock rifle
105 gr. FF Goex..
40 cotton duct patch mink oil lube
.570 rb. not recovered.

Taken wearing hip boots on a 5 man slow push of high marsh grass-cattails.
I led to the tip of the nose..and caught the top of the windpipe just a in front of the shoulders. DRT.

It was 50 deg. on the recovery and picture..my wife is still laughing at that one..hence my best Redeck look...LOL!

This makes me happy..and she eats really good.

She had 3/4" fat line along the back hams...
Age the heart a week in the fridge..trim and cut in strips then grill with olive oil.
The 20 lbs.of trimmings were turned into a 10% beef tallow double grind burger meat.
Used in chili,meatloaf, lasagna,tacos,plain old cheesebergers ;D

Waterfowl, I have to agree with your wife. It's really a funny/good pic. It's probably a comment on climate change as well. Congrats on a successful deer hunt. Where are you? I'm on the Dane/Green County line. It was a really quiet deer hunt around here.

Smart keeping those tenderloins really close to your beer. I don't like them wandering off......
