How do you store your antique guns?

Good morning,

How do you guys store your antique guns? I keep my rifles in a closet.
I would like to hang them on the wall in my office some way but am concerned
about thieves. If too many people see the guns, they will tell other people and too many other people will hear
that I have antique guns.

However, I feel like I am missing out on enjoying my guns if they're hiding in a closet and only taken out once
in a while to be oiled.

  ... one collector who is well known to many Tennessee rifle collectors had a huge collection (over 100 original Tennessee rifles),... he did a lot of business with  his small hometown bank, and was permitted to build a gun rack in the bank's vault,..!!! ... said he didn't want some dope junkie to break in his home and steal a $2,000 rifle and sell it for $25 worth of dope,... !!!

Mine are all covered under insurance, so mine are on display in the house to enjoy.

I rotate one or two out while the others are tucked away. It's always like Christmas when I change them out. If we have any repairmen in the house ( cable guys, delivery ) everything is put away.

Here in Canuckistan, we are not allowed to display firearms, even antiques.  They have to "be safely stored".  Safe storage means locked away in a vault or secure room.  I store mine in a secure room, in racks, muzzle down on a plank of wood.

I've only left mine out one time while a carpet estimator was in the house. After he left I noticed they had been rearranged. Didn't hurt anything but it still bugs me. Storing them muzzle down makes sense, I bought one once that had a dead insect in the barrel.

Mine are stored in the 'Canadian' manner. Seventeen miles from the border with Mexico and a large dope culture, it isn't wise to take chances.

Muzzle down, cleaned and oiled at least once a year.

Locked up securely in a high-quality gun safe.  We live in a very safe area and know all our neighbors but one never knows.  Yes, I have them insured but if somehow they are stolen or lost, or heavily damaged in a house fire ("fire proof" safes are only effective to an extent) insurance may replace their market value but since they're all unique, they could never be truly replaced...one could only find something comparable.  Basically, I bring them out to rotate on a wall now and then or to show off to someone who appreciates such things.  Or, I simply fondle the now and then!

In the barn, mud room, above the doors leading outside hanging on nails, on the mantle, in the truck. Pretty much everywhere. They are so old and worn out, nobody would want them, except the folks on this forum!
