Jack works hard to give you the parts that will finish into a good gun. His stocks are shaped to a useable profile with plenty of wood left to allow the builder to add a personal touch. He will inlet the triggers and lock for you if you want. He uses good barrels and L & R locks but he will supply a Chambers or other make lock if requested. His brass castings are a good yellow brass his steel castings are good also. I have built several guns from his parts and I recommend Jack’s kits to all my students. The reason I recommend his parts is they are usually a few hundred dollars less than other parts kits, the barrel will be 100% inlet and setting in the stock. The tang has to be inlet and on straight barrels the breech plug will have to be fitted to the breech. I have Jack cut the ram rod groove in the forestock but drilled, I have my students drill them in class. Jack mills the ram rod groove in the forearm of the stock if you have him do this work. Some people do not like the forearm milled for the ram rod but I have examined a few very early guns where the forearm appeared to be milled. So this method is PC. To sum all this up, Jack’s parts will make into a great usable gun if you have the skills to build it. His parts are not assemble and finish but well worth the money.
