A deer drive with be a good scenario to have a double-barrel flintlock, like a SxS loaded with ball.

This has happened many times with squirrels...

Just as I re-prime the pan they vanish after reloading...

You just have to laugh it off..

Yes I feel your pain and humor..

But on the other hand ..I have dropped a deer in its tracks..from above in a ladder stand.
 turned around and reloaded facing the tree while fumbling-dropping caps with ice cube finger tips and shooting a second one hanging around wondering what happened to its buddy.

That happened once in 40 years of black powder hunting.

Just keep the reloads handy...
