Hunting Bag, Horn and Shot Pouch
«

I bought this set a few months back, but I'm just getting around to posting. According to the family I got it from it's from east TN. The bag, horn, and shot pouch were the only items left. One side of the strap appears to have came un-stiched and the other part of the strap cut.
I don't have any particulars on the time frame or other history...just that the family ties it to east TN.

The horn looks like it had an applied tap at one time.

I'll take a better pic and let you get a better view. I thought it looked a little different.

WOW Casey, it looks like that old boy has been around for a few years. If it could talk I'm sure it would have a real tale to tell...

That bag looks to me to be considerably newer than shot pouch, assuming they were stored in the same conditions. Of course, leather tanning and finishing has a lot to do with how leather survives the ages. Just thinking out loud. God Bless, Marc

Can't say I'd disagree on different appearance. I certainly trust the opinions of leather workers over my own. Thankfully I have almost no money in it, so I can't complain with the horn and pouch, even if the bag is a no go.

Casey, nice find. Leather is very tough to date. This is a nice group, with provenance.
