FF In a .32?

Going back to the range today to try some Goex FF in my little Traditions Crockett .32 rifle. Have
had a love-hate relationship with it. Have tried balls .310  .315 and "0" Buck. Patches .010
.015  and .020.  FFF from 15 grs. to 50. Seams, and I mean seams to like about 30 gr. and the
"0" Buck. around 2 inches at 50 yds from  rest.  Today I am going to try FF for a change.
Any of you tried FF in such a small caliber?  I know my .45 flint will only shoot FF. But my .58
musket loves FFF.  Think I'll  go back to drinking.!

 I use 2f Goex in my .40. 38" barrel,48" twist.Shoots real clean with a .395 RB and a .020 patch. I  like Lynton Mackenzie's words. "2f is for rifles,3f is for pistols. I don't see why it won't work in your .32. Keep us posted, ok?

Friz......I have a 36 that I shoot 30 grains of FFF swiss in, shoots super.    Even tho I am usually a FF person, I have never
tried it in my 36, but have a feeling it would probably work OK........Don

FWIW, for many years I've been shooting a .32 South Carolina style caplock with a Douglas  39" barrel.  It shoots 15 and 30 grains GOEX fffg to the same point of aim at 25 yards, 5 shot groups mostly touching off a rest and at 50 slightly larger groups but a half inch lower. I only load the larger charge when to possibility of a larger game shot exists while still hunting squirrels. I use the Hornady "O" buck at .323 with an .005  oiled patch.  A short or peg starter is a must.  My other .32 caplock has a GM barrel @ 32" and shoots nearly the same with the same loads. My next  rifle soon to arrive will learn to shoot ffffg.  A .32 will really show the differences in fouling that various powders have.  Lon

Tired, Just got back from shooting all day. Well the winner is FF. Charge 40 grs. "0" buck ball
and .015 Teflon patch. Rifle made a real good crack sound. Group about 1 1/2 inches for 5 shots.
My old Zoli Zouave will still out shoot it. Got to get something to eat. Tired ZZzzzzzz

Ran outa 3f and decided to try Goex 2f in my 36 - Cut the group size in half!

As Spock would say "fascinating".  When I chronographed some loads I found 2f to deliver less total variation, but that was in larger bores.  Daryl likes 2f in his 40.  You would think that the effect of grain size would change as bore decrease, maybe not?  I had a 58 that liked 3f but it was funny in that it liked 70 grains and then 110 grains.  Anything in between you could forget.
