Germanic pistol locks?

Is there anything out there 1750-1780s besides the small Siler?

Rich, I used a Kibler on my last pistol, If is the same size as the Siler. Pan is rounded  and tail is shaped, maybe a weld around the pan and a bit of filing?

Thanks, Ed, so much of the styling is later - cock, pan, frizzen spring, and tail shape - I’m sure it’s a sparker but a mite too much modification for me.

 the flat faced Becky can be made to look like a germanic lock by putting flats on the flash pan and some touch up on the plate contour. Just getting one could be a challenge.

I don't know your objectives but not all German locks were flat faced.  There is a wonderful Kuchenreuter pistol in Norman Dixon's book, "Georgian Pistols" with a nice round-faced lock much like Chambers small round-faced English lock.  The only superficial difference is it lacks a pan bridle.

Dave, my plan is to make a companion pistol for my .58 early rifle inspired by RCA 40. It will not have the sophistication of the European A. Albrecht pistol in Moravian Gunmaking II which does have a nice round faced lock. I’ve got a smallish, quite fancy Germanic flintlock from castings I got from Ron Scott (I think) but I’d prefer something plainer. Chris Hirsch is working on a Germanic pistol lock but it will be a while.

I'm not sure but I seem to remember that Jack Brooks had a Germanic pistol lock casting set available.  This might work well for you.

Rich, I got a pair of locks from Stan Hollenbaugh - his "Ditchburn" J. P. Beck lock.  Ideal size for a pistol at 4 3/16" x 3/4".  Great sparker.  Curved lock plate.
