Unusual patchbox
« on: February 20, 2021, 06:19:31 PM »
Has anyone seen another like this. The rifle is owned by a friend of mine, and will get good photos of the entire gun. He will have the rifle at the Knoxville show.

It’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog !

I have not seen one but I love it
Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.

I’m guessing the first owner was a farmer!  Very different patch box design.

FALout, he had it displayed a year ago at the Alabama Longrifle Show and some thought it was wheat, but the majority of the people thought it was rice.
Those photos does not do it justice, really nice rifle.

My bet is on rice or a similar grain. Wheat does not have smooth edges and is rather square ended with spikes. This is a patch box beyond all others. Wish we could see more of the rifle itself, and maybe someone can get photos of it at the coming show. Also, who made it, where was it made, when was it made? Lots to consider here. Many thanks to you for posting the
photos here and giving us a glimpse of a pretty fantastic rifle.
