Good for you Pete,it worries me when our crew gathers for the Pa. flinter season and almost everyone is retired. Where are the young bucks?
Just hasn't been the same around here without your wit and wisdom.
Pete, I think it's great you still want to hunt with a nice plains rifle. Toughing it out is the only way to go. It's better to wear out than to rust out. Good luck.
You ain't tore that Jeep up yet???
Sounds good, OMM!Let us know how the Pedersoli is.If I buy one I think I’ll strip it and finish with a nice dark nut brown and give it a shiny oil finish. I’ve read many originals were finished quite dark in this manner. The orangish reddish finish Pedersoli is using looks like it could use a bit of a spruce.I was planning the same thing. I like it with a darker stain. I wish it was browned instead of blued but from what I read the Hawken was mostly blued. So i'm ok with blued.
