One of those little details: the index mark in the front lock bolt, in case you've overlooked it.
It's there to mark the position the 'notched' front bolt must be in for the end of the tapered ramrod to slip underneath it.
Too much wood is the bane of the longrifle profile and this longrifle isn't carrying any extra wood, anywhere along its length.
I'm a early fan of the John Newcomer profile. Many of these early Lancaster gunsmiths should be looked at more closely. There's a lot there to like.
