Hi Hortonstn, looks like you have done a lot already, nice start. What trigger/triggers did you use? I can't see any in the pics. It might just be my eyes as I need cataract work done but the cheek looksn a tad long in front. Might be my eyes too.

So far so good. What is your overall plan, carving engraving, etc.? By the way where is all the dirt? Looks like you have someone cleaning as you work.

Your rifle looks great !  And I wanted to make a comment about the caliber.  I have made several rifles, pistols, and smooth bores now (not including my cannons) from 4 gage down to a .32.  While I enjoy shooting all of them, ever since I built a copy of a beautiful Jim Chambers rifle with a .36 barrel I had on hand, I have really gravitated toward shooting that particular rifle.  With an "A" weight .36 cal barrel, the rifle is light and slim....and just feels good in the hand.  While not a caliber for hunting moose, it is fun (and economical) to shoot.  Here is a link to the whole build......the second to the last page shows all the photos of the completed rifle.

If you have not had a .36 cal before, I think you will like shooting it.....as Hanshi and I do... ;)

Paul,

Any progress on your rifle ?  I'm anxious to see how it comes out and what you think of the caliber.

I'd call that rifle an undisputed beauty.  And in .36, it just doesn't get any better.

Paul, it looks lovely!  You really have a lot of grace and style in the work, and a very warm, friendly-looking finish on it.  It actually looks as though it is thinking, "Where's those squirrels and rabbits?"

In other words, it combines beauty with usefulness.  Congrats on a good job.

Very nice! Would you be willing to provide details? Such as, which lock did you use and how did you finish the stock?

Reddish brown ,two coats each then  rubbed it back with maroon scotch bride followed with steel wool
Then sealed it with Truoil  many coats then rubbed back with beechwood Casey's stock Scheen
