Western PA gun

Thought I would post a few photos of a gun just off the bench. This rifle borrows heavily from the work of Allison with a little Fleeger thrown in. I really like Western PA guns and think they are a largely overlooked school of gun building. The style became fully evolved at the end of the flintlock era. This rifle has an A weight 45 cal. barrel, a late Ketland lock and Davis DST. It shot extremely well when sighting it in. I sure hope the client takes it into the field as it is a joy ot carry and shoot.

Great job. Many of these later flint rifles have a lot of appeal. Especially when carved and not loaded with inlays. Really clean and engaging.

Ron,
A wonderful gun, I have always enjoyed both Allison and Fleeger's work. I really like (love) the carving on that rifle.

That's a really cool rifle and a very lucky customer. It's fascinating how you were able to load it to the gills with carvings and inlays and yet nothing appears crowded. It's just complete freedom and wide open expression through and through.

Fantastic Rifle Ron. Just beautiful workmanship. I think they are underappreciated as well.
