I have always admired this rifle. I like the lines and I like the subtlety of the carving. Also the wooden patch box lid is very graceful. Most of all I like the fact that it has a 38 & 5/16 barrel.
I acquired a Getz 38 inch barrel. It is 40 cal. and is 1 and a little less than a 1/6 at the breech. So all in all it is very close to RCA 94. That is, it is 5/16 shorter and it is a .40 instead of a .45.
I did a search here for RCA 94, and the one pertinent post had all the pictures missing. I also searched for George Shroyer and again I didn't find much specific to this rifle.
Any how I was mostly wondering where the home of this rifle is. Is it on display any where? Is it in private hands? I believe Kindig owned t at one time but I'm not sure.
I looked at all the Shroyer rifles in RCA #2 and they all appear to have very plain wood .I have plenty of wood to choose from and I am leaning towards a very dense soft maple blank that would fit the bill as far as plain goes.
Any how if any one has buit this rifle and is willing to give some insights, it would be much appreciated.
