That is not brag Andy. You showed me that rifle, and the prize was well deserved.

Small patch, post those pictures.  I'd like to see them.  I have to go in and look at RCA 26 to see what it is.  What year did you enter it at Dixons?  I've been up there many times over the years.

RCA 26 is kind of an odd one.  Odd, but pretty neat.
It was 2016.  I wasn’t going to enter it, but Allen Martin insisted, so being the first one I’d entered, went into the Apprentice class.

Thanks Rich, that means a lot.  This was a fun build. Almost every piece had to be made or modified. The lock, pipes, buttplate, guard. lock was a gunmakers lock from Chambers. The other hardware was all modified from close pieces. The barrel is a 48” Getz that I had made. Really fun piece.
I gave it to my favorite son-in-law.

You appear to have hit it dead on.  Very nice looking rifle!  You deserve to have won it.  I would venture to say you could have one journeyman, too, if they still had the category.  Those side panels are very unique for sure.

Scott,
I’ve slept several, times since then, and I honestly don’t remember.  Pretty sure it was a Reeves Goehring buttplate of some kind. I believe I just figured the dimensions, bought something close then pretty much shaped it accordingly. You can get pretty close on the photos in RCA.

Non biggie.  Was just wondering.  I've got a Goehring #34 that I'm going to use for mine.

I will once I start it.  I'm still waiting on the barrel from Bob Hoyt and I still need to obtain a piece of wood.  Dont want anything too fancy but something with a little curl in it.  Will probably give Dunlap a call.  I'll be using a Stan Hollenbaugh left hand F&I lock which is like a Rolex watch after Brad Emig worked his magic on it.

Scottmc,
Al Martin is in Swengel, PA.  Most likely you can get a piece of wood from him.
He’s a member here, or you can contact him on his website.

I actually called him today but he is out of town for a while fly fishing.  I'll be going up by his place next weekend so if he's home, I'll stop and see what he has.
