Same back atcha alacran.  I intend to shoot the rifle match but will not submit a score in the competition.  However, I am looking forward to your smoothbore target...all we need is some decent weather...cold, snow, miserable.

Interesting.
110gr. likely kicked a bit, depending on style of gun, I guess.
2 shots were good ones.  I suspect Taylor wants to get out and shoot this now that there is a
score to "best" & my $55.00 ($Cdn) feather spring arrived from Track. Charged $22.00 US for shipping.

Nice looking gun with a beautiful piece of walnut.
I'll be using cloth-patched .595's for this match.
85gr. 2F should work OK, but might have to go to 95gr.
One of the fellows at our club uses 85gr. 3F in his 20 bore and is about unbeatable.
It is the only gun he has & he shoots it like most of us shoot rifles.
Beware the man with only one gun.

Well I'm glad someone got the ball rolling. Nessmuck I have a Tulle I shot for twenty years. Still have it. I built it and I love the looks of the gun. But I believe they are engineered for maximum recoil. I lowered the front of the comb height by about 5/8th and that helped some. I would have lowered it more but then it would not have looked right. Mine has a 44 inch Getz barrel and 70 grains of 2f is about as much as I could tolerate for extended shooting sessions. If I came home and looked like I had been in a fist fight, my wife would know that I shot it well that day.

alacran, I was about to head out for the range with my GRF 20 ga. trade gun, but then I took one look at the clouds in that direction and came directly home.  (Car is still loaded)  What was a beautiful day an hour ago turned into a potential rainout with heavy, dark clouds.  Maybe tomorrow?

Here is my 1st target.  Shot today with my plain jane 20 bore, 38 inch Colerain barrel, Davis lock,
paper cartridge loads .  I ran out of my .600 balls so loaded .610's with 100 gr FFg in the paper
5 shots offhand, 50 yards.  No rushing , but just steady load ,shoot, load shoot.   5 shots in just under 4 minutes.  The  4th shot was so tight going down that I loaded the 5th with the powder, bare ball with the paper as a wad.  That is due to the larger ball.  That 5th shot went low.
I hope to try again , but will shoot the rifle match first .

Wonderful shooting Bob!  My smoothbore, isn't nearly as accurate @ 50 yd. even from a rest as today's outing demonstrated:  It wasn't me or the target, which I could see clearly, but it really was the GRF trade gun at that distance.  At 25 yd. it is lethal, but the wheels start to come off the wagon at greater distances.  (see 25 yd. target below)

I  can usually count on that kind of result out to 35 yards or so.  Beyond that, there's a fair amount of luck involved.  The gun holds like a dream.  I made a bunch of adjustments before finishing. Also, the ignition is exceptionally fast .   The cartridges made with the .600 balls are a tad less accurate, but not by much.  Anything less than the 100 gr charge opens up the group

Taylor and I made a weak attempt this afternoon. Nothing to post. Shot from 9 to 14 LOL. I did get 3 5's though, but nothing very close to them. ::)
Typical 50 yard smoothbore shooting for us.  Every shot would have been a dead deer which shows it doesn't take good shooting to do that.

Yep Daryl, Bob shot a 21 out of 25.. He is the lead horse right now. Don't trespass in Bobs woods!

Here's my smoothbore attempt. Taylor beat me by a point or two.
82gr. 2F GOEX  .021" denim, .595" pure lead ball.
50 yards offhand.
The last time I shot it at this range with ball, I used a bench and didn't do this well.
Go figure. Good thing it likes to pattern well with shot.

Rich- according to the rules, you can submit up to 3 targets.
The maximum score on a target/contest, is 25 - 5x5.
Taylor's rifle shoot is a 2 targets to score event, total score out of 34.
