Pure Lead 7.27 pounds of it.

Just finished casting up 106 balls for the .69.
It works out to 7.27 pounds of lead.
There are a few(2 or 3) with wrinkles, on the bottom of the box- right hand side of the picture.

Awesome !   Better than $ these days  :)    You don't get many .735 balls from a pound , so I usually shoot targets with my 20 bore. Back a few years when I did more competitive shooting, I had a Chambers Pennsylvania fowler in 28 bore/ .54 smooth.  It shot amazingly well.  In a moment of weakness, I sold it to a friend  ::)

I've been running 50's the last couple of days. Down here..( Florida)...temperatures have cascaded down into the 60's-low 70's  ::). It's time to fire up the pot and cast without sweating..!!  ;)

Lead is getting expensive and harder to find good quality stuff, at least in this area.  About 8 or 10 years ago two of my friends and I found 1,600 pounds of unused roof flashing for 50 cents a pound.  We divided it up and I still have a couple of hundred pounds of it left.  Shooting mostly smaller caliber rifles, it should last a long time yet (probably longer than I will).  Now if powder was only easier to find and not going up in price so fast, things would be even better.

The last X-ray lead Taylor and I bought, was 50 cents per pound.
Nice block of lead, Nessmuck.
I'm down to a couple hundred pounds, now, maybe 250.

Back when I was a serious long range BP shooter [ 1000 yards ]  I'd fire 100 rounds on a weekend .
Sometimes more than that.  At 550 gr per bullet, that adds up !     I still have about 200 + punds of pure lead left and about the same in non-pure.  That should last me for the stuff I'm doing now.
I just cast 100   .395 balls .  Hardly made a dent in the supply

My Dad got me 3 of those off a Destroyer he was working on while in the dry dock, 30 years ago. Got 1 left....yup 100 lbs....plus I acquired some lead ,that was used as weight in some medical carts....for free !

That's the good thing about the .36 and .32. is you get around 106 (.36) balls & 152 (.32) balls from a pound of lead.
