I have assembled a significant amount of information on the gunsmith Jacob Gaumer, who lived in Southampton Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania before moving to Salem township, Muskingum County, Ohio. He is not recognized as a Somerset County gunsmith in the collector books I have seen, but is listed as a "smith" in an 1800 Somerset County assessment list, and didn't move to Ohio (where he is known as a gunsmith and blacksmith) until late in life. In Somerset County, he lived somewhere near Adam Lepley I, who was the ancestor of several Somerset County, Pennsylvania and Knox County, Ohio gunsmiths. https://korns.org/gunsmiths/Jacob-Gaumer-4102021/Jacob-Gaumer-4102021.html

Mr. Dietle, Thank you so much for sharing your collected information on Jacob Gaumer.  I have done a little research, very little, compared to you and other people on this board. I can appreciate the amount of time and effort you must have put into collecting the information as you have shared.
I guess I now  have to add another Somerset maker to my want list.
Thanks again, Dave

Dave Tercek, I see now that his son-in-law (and my distant cousin) Jacob Sturtz was also a gunsmith, and I suspect that he learned either from Jacob Gaumer or Adam Lepley II back in Somerset County. I'm still working on the new Jacob Sturtz web page, but here's what I have so far: https://korns.org/gunsmiths/Jacob-Sturtz-4122021/Jacob-Sturtz-4122021.html
