If he was, he sure changed everything about his style of building. I have seen a half dozen or more Billy Sweger guns and many photos, and nothing about them shows a Bedford style. Some I have handled have a tall wrist and a normal amount of drop, very much like the 2nd generation Shuler guns built nearby in the eastern end of the county. Roy Chandler's book on Perry county gunsmiths lists his father name as John and his mother, a school teacher, as just Miss Weary, but makes no mention of who he might have apprenticed with.
