To Horn Or Not To Horn?

This old friend of mine gave me this horn the other day.
I was thinking about making something out of it.
It has a fair amount of curl to it. Is it too curly to make a powder horn out of?
Do guys prefer a straighter horn to carry?
I know a little curl is typical but this one hooks pretty good.
Let me know what you think about it.

    If my friend gave it to me,, I wouldn't care if it were  a corkscrew,I'd be making it into a  powder horn.I have several steer horns that have a lot more twist, unique and going into  powder horn.

I'd push a length of 1/16" welding rod down the outside curve of the horn to determine where the hollow part ends and the solid tip begins.  Mark that on the outside of the horn and determine if you can run a drill bit into the tip to intersect the hollow part.  That will also tell you how much of the tip to cut off in order to facilitate that drilling.
It'll likely make a nice powder horn.

Yeah, it is a cool looking horn.
I was trying to decide on making it into a powder horn or something else.
If it was too curvy for a powder horn I was going to think about making something else.
We'll see how this goes.
I still haven't finished the powder horn my girl bought for me.

Would a horn with that much curve make a good blowing or "Hunt" horn?

 I don't know about a powder horn it would have to be turned quite a bit to get powder out. Would make a good Hunting horn I would think depending on the cavity. May need to see a couple of other shots.

 Your thumb in the pic looks to be almost life size I would cut the tip off just about its width. Put a mark on the horn just were the end of the wire is and one in the cut off section that makes a straight line with it and drill with a 2/4" bit. Going slowly just a little at a time to help clean out the curls. Make sure you have the horn braced up tight. I still think it would make a nice blowing horn, especially with that large bugle like end.
