Undercutting for Pewter nosecap

I need to understand how to undercut to lock in the pewter pour. Do you v angle around the profile and add locks lines at different places. Any direction toward videos or books. I have seen the Killer video but see no instructions on how to lock it on the tip. I am still working on a Hawken with a pewter nose.

I just drill a couple of holes in the forearm where I would normally put rivets.   That includes countersinking the hole in the barrel channel.   I do the same thing when I pour a cap on a walking stick or other similar item.

I do the same and would avoid under cuts, that may weaken the edge of the wood.

Me too, hole through the forstock and no undercutting. Make sure your cuts aren’t beveled the other direction either, that makes a thin ragged edge. When the pewter puddles, and shines like chrome pour it. If you overheat it you will get porosity, and scorching. good luck.

And do not forget to plug the ramrod hole!!!
Poring a nose cap is easier to do than to explain it.

I took pictures of an original pourd cap that shows what is being discussed. This is the link to that thread.
