Linen Tow
« on: September 09, 2009, 02:59:40 AM »
Hi. I have always cleaned my ML guns with a worm and linen tow. I always got it from Jas. Townsend and Son, but they no longer list it. Does anyone know of another supplier?  Thanks alot for any answers.

You might try these folks. hemptraders.com.....F-L1 raw, F-DG1 processed. I like the Hemp over Linen. The processed is close to Linen Tow. The raw in unprocessed and I like it best for cleaning and using for over the powder wads when I need them. Each item is a little over 2 pounds. The pictires below are 2 oz. each.

I bought it by the pound from 'Silver Shuttle'

Coarse, has some bits of stalk in it. Perfect for cleaning.

Taylor and I have a friend who uses tow for cleaning his rifles - every time, never taking them apart - his rifles have rust here and there around the locks - beware.

It doesn't matter what you use to clean your rifle with if you don't take it apart, it will have rust.

It ain't the tow's fault.

Good to see you back, Daryl.

Same with any gun - don't clean it properly, it will rust - modern or ML.  Good to be back, but longing for the 'next' rondy - coming up around Thanksgiving (ours), 12th of Oct., this year.
