Daniel Meylan gunsmith ??
« on: May 22, 2021, 12:14:15 PM »
I recently received  a nice flintlock rifle (from the Weiss auction) signed Daniel Meylan in script on the barrel. I have not been able to find anything about that man...
I thought it might be a spurious signature, but why would anyone put a name on a rifle of an unknown gunsmith?
Has someone of you any information of him?

Do not know if this will help but for a Daniel Meylin, but enter the name Martin Meylin in the SEARCH area of this forum.

The possible connection to Martin Meylin was what made me think of a spurious signature in the first place.
If there really should be a connection, maybe Daniel was a relative of Martin?

I really do not know Chris. There are some people on this forum who are well acquainted with the Meylin family, hopefully they will chime in.
The signature looks re-worked.
