Got the email from Kathryn today. My Kiibler Colonial shipped today. It’s a 54 cal.

I think longer then that on some calibers. I believe Jim is rifling his own barrels 40 caliber and smaller. I’m sure that dictates wait times.

I have seen the video of the blank being rifled. Onerous procedure and what else is there to say. I'm in line as well and look forward to receiving my kit. Now back to the OP's show, @wapiti- without looking up stats and such is this your first kit? When is delivery date? Got all your tools and finishing supplies? I'm excited for you as well as me. I'm sure a bunch of folks are looking in to this thread. Best of Luck.

USPS says delivery is Monday!!!

This is my second build. I’m currently working on a full stock Hawken. I have lots of tools from my days re-stocking center fire rifles and building Archery longbows.

Ordered my second 40 SMR May 12. Now I must wait patiently!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you want a superb product you have to expect that it will take time. I ordered it in fancy maple so I can try the tannic acid stain with the ferric nitrate and Truoil. Maybe I will blue the barrel and furniture?? Maybe a silver inlay behind the cheek piece and patch box. Does anyone have experience with the aforementioned finish/stain?

Good to hear I ordered a 54 cal. On JANUARY 18 th. Still no word, hoping to hear something soon our B.P. League’s is half over.....fingers crossed.

Taylor does. He also uses Circa 1850 Tung Oil (Home HardWare) now most of the time, I think.

6 months for a rifled .54 Colonial in plain maple to arrive, and a few days ago just ordered a .45 SMR in fancy maple. Haven't finished the Colonial but with all the SMR builds being posted, might as well. Jim Kibler has a good product and for a motivated builder that is good working with his/her hands who wants a nice rifle, it is a solution.

I called kiblers 4 or 5 days ago and was lucky enough to talk to Jim... he said for the .54 cal colonial the average wait time is still 6-10 weeks, but closer to the 6 week end.

I order an SMR in 40 for my son to build while he’s home from college this summer. Ordered late April and was here in about five weeks, about two weeks longer than the estimate but not bad. He’s started getting the barrel and tang in and we’ll drill the underlugs in the next few days.

I just finished and test fired a SMR in 45. Modesty prevents me telling how long it took to get everything installed in the stock but I will say that I did very little chisel work on the job. I did, however, have to make a set of sights about .100" higher to get my cheekbone off the comb. But thats just me perhaps.

Finished with shop made nitrate of iron and shop made Linseed-Gum Benzion-Rosin varnish ala Kettenburg's recipe. I left a few scraper marks and did not sand finer than 220 and it looks about like it should I think for the class of rifle it is. Need to bring the sights to final shape and color the rear and it's good to go.

I finished my .40 Kibler SMR a few weeks ago and made a second range trip today. Looks like I need to file the front sight down a bit, after a couple tries, this is the 7 shot group I got at 40 yards when I aimed at the top of the target triangle. Seems to really like 40 gr. of FFF with a .395 ball and .020 patch. It’s a joy to shoot.
By the way, that’s Jims version of “plain” maple. I’m seriously considering ordering a .32.

Thank you all for the nice reviews and for sharing your beautifully finished rifles. It's super nice to see these completed. I remember picking out the piece of wood for Dan's rifle and it's fun to see how it looks finished.

Thanks as well for everyone's patience. Since late last year, our orders have increased dramatically. We've responded by hiring four new employees. We're working 24 hours a day, 5 days a week, and an 8-hour shift on Saturday and Sunday. So, I just want to let everyone know we're doing all we can to get your order processed as quickly as possible.

Another factor impacting our delivery has been supplier performance. The after-effects of the Covid situation are real and have impacted many businesses. Wait times for barrel blanks have increased by 5 times or more for some suppliers!

We're also having some tooling issues for the rifling we are performing in-house and this is slowing us down.

While all this is happening we're looking to the future. We're currently in the design stages for two new offerings. The fowling piece/trade gun we've mentioned and another project, we'll keep to ourselves until it is ready to go! We've also just purchased a new machine to make stocks. It should increase productivity and quality significantly. The cost of this machine would stagger most folks, but it makes business sense. We're also in the early stages of exploring gun drilling and reaming.

With all this said, we would have no business without all of our customers. Being so busy, we don't always get back to customers as quickly as we should, but I'm here to say that you're all valued. So thanks to you all.
