I'm always interested to see what the inside of the patch box looks like.Does anyone have some inside pics?
Here's two. Top is Lancaster bottom is Upper Susquehqnna

Guys,
Here is a grease hole from a late flintlock cherry stocked rifle. The material in the hole is rock hard and appears to be a bees wax.

Upper Susquehanna, grease still in the box in the corners. Grease is still a bit squishy in places.
