Finished up this cherry noggin / cup and a horn tinder box . The lid is fitted with a piece of 1/4 in thick leather for a seal, and the bottom plug is sealed with pine pitch glue. End caps are walnut.

The noggin is finished with 2 coats of walnut oil

Bob, what species of pine are you getting your pitch from? In Oregon days, we mostly collected pitch from the ponderosa species. I mixed in some ash and some dry ground elk droppings. Worked reasonably well.
