Heavy gun

I have a club butt dog lock that’s getting heavy on my arm. I want to keep it. So any suggestions on how to lighten it. The forearm in front of the lock is rather thick as well as further up.

Based on the photos, it looks as though there is an awful lot of wood between the barrel and the ramrod channel . How thick is that web ?  I like to keep mine somewhere around 3/16ths or so at the lock end to around 1/8th of an inch at the muzzle.
Also, the wood along the sides of the barrel looks to have an inconsistent line to it. I like to have at least 1/2 or more of the barrel side flat above the wood.

Agree. Wood is light. Sell it, get it bored bigger, or cut some length off.

How heavy is it?  My Long Land Pattern Brown Bess weighed 11 pounds without the bayonette, and I didn't find it too heavy.  Naturally others needs are different.  Just curious what you find heavy.

One thing about a heavy gun, is the tendency to ALWAYS follow through on wing shots. I found that with the 10 bore double I had. It was
impossible to stop the swing if I'd wanted to, and that was only a 10 pound gun.
