Short Flintlock almost done
« on: July 14, 2021, 12:50:00 AM »
I started this one more than a year ago but stuff got in the way.  It is inspired by an original I saw on youtube of all places.  The barrel is a Rice barrel 13 inches .62 caliber.

Cory Joe,

Did you build this because of the video of the Hungarian professor that was shooting the original Jaeger Stutz on the Cap & Ball Channel?

Will you be keeping it?

I can't decide if it needs a belt hook for inside a sash carry on horseback, or a sling button & sling swivel?
I thought that the original was cooler than sliced white bread, and yours looks just as neat. Excellent work.

Yes. Thats the one.  Im not keeping it. It does have a sling attachment, just not installed in the photo. I decided to add the sling cause it would be easier to carry out of the woods if dragging a hog.

Thanks.

Heck, Corey Joe - I made a pistol with a barrel longer than that!  16" that barrel was.

But your short rifle looks neater for sure.  What lock did you use?  Trigger guard?  The sling is a great idea.  You could carry that for back up.

Thanks. Ive made longer pistols too.  The lock is the Chambers Dale Johnson and the trigger gaurd is the Edward Marshall one

That's slicker than the sigh of a grease eating goose.

I've got a .62 barrel here, you may have just made up my mind as to what to do with it. That is Really cool. Would like to see how it shoots.

That rifle is cuter than a bear cub waiting for a traffic ticket.  I love it!   I could really put it to use.  Oh, my!

Corey Joe, you and Bob in the Woods can start a "Short Rifle Club".  Others, like me, will be inspired to join.  Love that muzzle treatment.
