Horn With Five Bands
« on: July 13, 2021, 08:39:37 PM »
It is about 13" around the outside curve and about 1 1/2" tip-to-tip. The butt is Walnut about 2 1/2" and cut so the horn fits inside it, it is held in place by Three Iron pins that also hold the base band in place. The tip is  made up of Two pieces of antler pinned to the horn with Three more pins. The bands were heated, turned and pressed on, they are also held with Pins. The horn itself has a scrapped finish the color is some old dyes followed by Brown paste wax.

Now THAT'S a horn.  A seriously fine looking bit o' work Tim.  The deep colors compliment the multi-banded look.  I like it.   Looks like it came out of Piedmont NC 200 years ago.    God Bless,  Marc

I always enjoy seeing your work Tim, even if I don't comment.   I learn a lot and get inspiration from seeing what you do.

Nifty.  Five bands playing at the same time results in just a bunch of noise but this works!

Thanks for sharing,

Kevin
