Making trade gun ribbed thimbles or Mike Lea contact
« on: August 09, 2021, 08:15:00 PM »
I need some 5/16” trade gun thimbles in brass. Does anyone know a source? I know Mike Lea used to make some. I’ve lost his contact info.

Barring success ordering or buying some, I will try to punch some out by creating male and female molds in hardwood but I’m thinking the error rate will be high. Advice from those with experience? I’ll use 0.016” thick annealed brass.

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?
