Lot #1147 at RIA is a very unusual piece.
The absence of standard Springfield lock & barrel markings is odd. Elisha Tobey's initials in an oval do not appear on regular production Springfield muskets until sometime in 1816. Prior to that, beginning in 1806 the final approval stamp on the stock flat was a script
