Color Case Hardening

The following article may be of interest to those that do case hardening. Some parts that are not subject to wear may benefit from the lower temperature method.

It has been awhile since I visited that site, but I was the original poster on that thread which goes back several years. Still do it pretty much the same way, most of my information about color case hardening was based on feedback I received here on the ALR from Jerry Huddleston, and lots of experimentation.

Alex, that link is quite an interesting read. Thank you for doing that! I’ve always liked CCH parts on muzzleloaders and just sent some out for the treatment.Reading this, it makes one start to think of building a kiln. Do you have any good information on building a gas fired one?
