Hi all! I have this nice rifle here in my workshop  for a service, its build ca 20 years ago by a Norwegian gunsmith Jan Marman  the kit is from TOTW . The first owner was a collector and its not shooted and not taken care of so therse some rust I must remove and oil it up again.

DANG, Runar!  Keep a couple of the pictures, maybe enlarged, and post each one with a label "This Is What Happens When a Gun is Not Cleaned and Lubricated AT LEAST Once per Year!"

Looked at that one near the bottom, the trigger guard.  It looks as though it is time to brush it before the next step in bluing or browning.  I have a very fine wire wheel that does that carding very nicely.

So, card off all the rust, put on some bluing or browning solution, then go through the cycle a few times.  When you get it done nicely, boil it and make it black - then give it back to the owner.

Looks as though it was once a very nice firearm that would shoot straight.

Was there rust in the mortises of all the inlaid parts  (trigger, trigger guard, lock, etc)?  If so, what did you do to fix that?

Hi all!And thank you Craig Wilcox and taco650! Rustremover wire wheele in grinder, some rust in the mortises removed with carful scraping. The builder have used a sort of black hard painting? in some of the mortises cant ask him he is dead(RIP)Ok,the rifle is now ready for the shooting range by the new owner ;)My 2 Jaeger rifles M/1803 and M/1821 made from scrath want to be in same photo!

I like yours best, Runar.  But all three have plain, clean lines.  Which one of the three will be the most accurate?

My 2 cents is a good coat of wax is better at preventing rust, but don’t help the neglect problem.
