Where do you get “tow” for cleaning
« on: August 20, 2021, 01:24:05 AM »
I tried the search menu, but track of the wolf is also summarized as TOW…So sorry if this has been discussed before but I can’t find it.

Everybody sure talks about it a bunch, so help a fellow to try it out.  I’ll be ordering a toe worm soon…

I’ve picked it up at events. I plan to grow a patch of flax next year.

I just ordered 2 pounds of unspun flax and plan to offer it for sale with or without a tow worm.

Got mine from Ebay a few years ago.  Found out that plumbing suppliers carry hemp tow. Might grab some of that to try (for plumbing too).

The best tow is the remnant from processing flax to make linen thread.  The tow from flax is harder and more coarse than the hemp, sisal or manila tow that is commonly offered.  If you don't want to wait for an order to come in, you can get jute or hemp twine from a hobby shop or big box hardware store.  Cut the twine in about 6" lengths and unravel the strands to single strands and you will have an acceptable tow.
