Need Help Finding a Good Builder In/Near Kentucky
« on: August 23, 2021, 08:09:41 AM »
Can anyone provide name & contact for a good builder who could take on the below project successfully...and has time within the next 6 months to start it?

Restocking/restoring a relic circa 1815 "Rizer & Weller" rifle back into an accurate looking, complete rifle. We have a full length signed barrel and tang, original patchbox, original side plate, original flintlock, and nice stock blank to work with. All needed dimensional information and photos of stock details and missing parts will be provided from an original Rizer & Weller of the same vintage.

Missing parts include: guard, triggers, butt plate, toe plate, all ramrod pipes, nose cap, and ramrod.

Several "standard" silver Rizer & Weller inlays will be needed including: cheek star, thumb piece, pick vent inlay, and forestock inlays, all with appropriate R&W engraved patterns. All patterns will be provided.

I'm thinking that your main problem is going to be that 6 month stipulation.  I'm aware of some builders [ you could check the CLA listings ], but a 2 year or more wait is almost the norm for the known good ones.  Maybe you'll get lucky ?

That’s a job for someone with restoration experience, parts fabrication, and making bench copies. Narrows the field a lot.
