If someone has the 1984 book "Pennsylvania Gunmakers (A Collection)" by Chandler & Whisker, could you let me know what the book says about the gunsmith Philip Bortner?

Regards,

In Arms Makers of Pa, Whisker cites a tax list , "Bortner, Philip,  gunsmith, 1814, Ayr Twp, Bedford Co. .... Noble & Moore cite Whisker unpublished with "Bortner, Phillip, Fulton Co. Pa. 1817.   I hope this helps a bit.      OLUT

FWIW, I figured out where Peter Bortner moved after leaving Bedford County. Here's my study: https://korns.org/gunsmiths/Philip-Bortner-2152021/Philip-Bortner-2132021.html

Lannie,

"Pennsylvania Gunmakers (A Collection)" by Chandler & Whisker, 1984.

One entry for Philip Bortner:

Bortner, Philp: 1814 Ayr Twp., Bedford Co., now Fulton Co.
