« on: October 03, 2021, 10:27:07 PM »
I need help Identifying the maker or area it was made in. It has some interesting features that should help. It has ivory/bone inlays, wooden under-rib, faceted ramrod pipes, simple lollipop rear sight with front site made with a heavy post with inserted blade. It is a .45 caliber and a heavy 13 1/2 pounds. It has such a good look that I couldn’t pass it up.

Single trigger, cherry stock, and wood under rib all indicate a New England gun.  Shelby Gallien

I'm guessing it's percussion. In that caliber, with a fairly heavy barrel and wood underib I'd New England c.1850...when the earlier flintlock styles were still current but it was no longer necessary for militia riflemen to supply their own arms. At that point, target shooting was very popular in NE as a middle and upper-middle class pastime.

Thanks everyone
The bore is pretty good and I can’t wait to try it out.

Looks like a GREAT rifle.
If you intend to shoot this rifle, a good scrubbing of the bore with WD40's maroon scotch-brite on a jag, then a look-see with a bore light
or small diameter flash-light would be a good idea.

The buttstock doesn’t look like it’s up for to much abuse.
