Out sourcing case coloring

I  looking to have an engraved Hawken lock plate case colored.   Any suggestions for a nice, clean, and speedy job
 besides Turnbull?

Tom Snyder from Michigan does excellent CCH.
I guess he’s still on ALR although I haven’t seen him post in a while, and I haven’t spoken to him since pre COVID.
I thought his handle on ALR was just Snyder, but I can’t find that, so I’m not sure of his status.  I hope all is well with him.

Second Wyoming Armory. Had them do 2 rifles for me with good results & reasonable prices.

I dont remember the exact turn around, but it was pretty quick. Make sure that everything is polished before sending.

I never had work done by them but Keith gave a class to our gunmakers guild, so I've seen their work. The prices on their website seem pretty reasonable. A former owner is in our guild. Good people.

They did a very nice job on a TD breechblock for a Gemmer that I built.

The lock plate and hammer will be headed off to Wyoming Armory tomorrow.  They are $95 vs over $300 for Turnbull. 

Not sure why I didn't think of them before.  I have one of the first rifles they ever built made for me by them.  They did the colors on that too. 

Anyway, thanks for the suggestion.

Today I got my lock back from Wyoming Armory.  They were pretty speedy and they did a very nice job.  Exactly what I expected and wanted.

Photographing case colors is always tricky so I took a bunch of different photos, and I'll post 3 of them here.  None of them look exactly like the real thing in my opinion.  The colors are quite dark and vivid and they mask the engraving, so I am about to rub out maybe half of the colors.  They will not be as vivid, but the engraving will come through.  I won't rub evenly either.  This is always a somewhat dicey and slightly scary process for me for some reason.

The colors will certainly fade on their own with time.  I understand that penetrating oil like Rem-Oil will also cause faster fading. 

I think the colors look wonderful.  I have noticed that any time case coloring is done over engraving it makes the engraving harder to see.  Just the nature of the beast.  Sort of like carving conflicting with fancy curl in maple.

Fresh case colors always look out of place on an older rifle. And they may fade in time, but not fast enough. I won't put much wear on it in the time I have left.
