I'd like more information...where's EK?. He is the one maker who's work I'd consider buying.

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

Thansk a lot guys. I wish I had an appropriate 'story' to go along with it but just have not had the time to come up with something. Obviously the inlay stuff and initials are "secondary" and there are a number of evident 'repairs' i.e wood patches etc via years of refinishing. Lots of fun. I appreciate the comments!!

It's an antique Swedish lock, it's either a very early 1715 infantry musket lock or it may actually predate it and be of the 1700-1715 period predating the 'standardization' of the infantry musket. It's in remarkable condition although I did have to 'tweak' it a bit, recaseharden the internals and repair the nose of the sear. It works beautifully now and it's a real rockcrusher!

A lock like that really sets a gun apart, but I wouldn’t know how to even go about trying to source one. I suppose European antique auctions for whole guns and then pulling parts that are usable?

There are places to turn them up now and again, although in this case, the guy for whom the gun was built sent it to me so I didn;t have to do anything other than to get it going.
The guard is ca. 1690 French, that one came from ebay.
